Raise Hope for Congo congratulates humanitarian, women rights champion and international fashion icon Iman for being honored with the BET Service Award this year. Iman has remained a long standing advocate and supporter of Enough’s Raise Hope for Congo campaign. Over the years she has dedicated time to spread awareness about the trade in conflict minerals and the systematic use of sexual violence by armed militias in eastern Congo, where one of the world’s deadliest wars since World War II is still raging.
Thank you Iman for casting a spotlight on this silent but deadly conflict and for continuing to be a strong voice calling for the protection of Congo’s women and girls and an end to the violent conflict in eastern Congo, especially the use of sexual violence as a weapon of war.
Congratulations on this wonderful award!
The BET awards ceremony aired on February 21st. Watch the video.
